Using mortice and tenon joints, scarf joints and plumb scribe shoulders not only creates an accurate fit for all the frames we create, but each timber intersection is completely unique. Our timbers are finished with a ‘carpenters mark’ which is a tradition that’s been used for centuries, marking their position within the structure. All of our timber comes from sustainable sources. This means well-run forests, independently certified in Britain where possible. We grade every piece of oak ourselves, rejecting any which don’t meet our standards.

Restoring Oak Framed Buildings

While timber is often used for its strength in modern builds, older oak framed buildingsmay also need conservation work. Our in-depth understanding of oak framing means we love working with old frames, seeing the workmanship of past timber carpenters and leaving our own sympathetic mark once restored.
